Let us get to know more about the Winners and their Projects!

We proudly introduce you to the winners of Young Project Manager of the Year 2023.

Bronze Winner – Mahshad Fathollahian, Iran

Mahshad was appointed as the project manager in the “Feasibility of Intelligent Pigging Localization in Iran and Identification of Optimal Solutions” project, and it was her first management experience. Limited access to human resources, the sensitivity of time management, and the unfamiliarity of technology in the organization were the main challenges I faced in this project.  The successful implementation of this strategic project increased the self-confidence of the organization in defining and implementing innovative projects and the confidence of senior managers in the abilities of the staff. Furthermore, managing this challenging project was a further development of my knowledge and skills in the field of project management.

Silver Winner – Olalla Garcia Perez, Spain

Industrial Engineer with ten years of experience in international project management for the railway sector. I have been part of the Talgo German ICE-L Long Distance Train project, leading the areas of electronic systems, traction and software development. My responsibilities were to manage all the project phases from the design phase until the validation phase, to ensure high-quality level manufacture and on-time delivery, meet the project associated budget, manage project risks, manage external and internal stakeholders communications, customer reporting and agile methodologies implementation. This project will improve citizens mobility and quality of life towards a more sustainable and accessible transport.

Gold Winner – Andy Mekhail, Australia

Andy is an Associate at Turner & Townsend, with almost eight years’ of experience who thrives in dynamic, complex, technical, and fast-paced environments. He is responsible for successfully leading and managing multiple projects from inception to completion, driving service excellence and setting new benchmarks for exceptional outcomes. Over the last two years, Andy has specialized in the planning, design, and delivery of complex health, retail and commercial projects and is now our Victorian Retail lead and Victorian key account lead for QIC. Andy won the 2022 AIPM Victorian ‘Future Project Leader’ award, proving he is an exceptional PM and leader.
