Spotlight on the IPMA Sustainability Project Manager Award Winners 2025

IPMA is proud to present the recipients of the Sustainability Project Management Awards, a new distinguished addition to the IPMA Global Individual Awards portfolio.

This award recognises outstanding individuals who integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into the heart of their projects. It honours leaders who demonstrate excellence in advancing sustainable practices, safeguarding ethical standards, and fostering positive social impact through their work.

The evaluation process is based on the IPMA Sustainable Project Management Standard, ensuring that awardees are assessed against globally recognised benchmarks for responsible and future-oriented project management.

The winners were formally announced during the IPMA Global Awards Gala on 19 September 2025 in Berlin, Germany. The honours were presented by Mr. Mark Patch, IPMA Global Individual Awards Coordinator, and Mr. Kristian Prebanic, IPMA Young Individual Award Coordinator.

Meet the Winners

 

  • Gold: Hongxian Cai (China), with a project Belo Monte Phase II ±800kV UHVDC Transmission Project in Brazil, State Grid International Development Co., Ltd.

  • Silver: Mohamed Abdelmaged (Saudi Arabia), with a  project Next-Gen Data Center Enablement for Global Platform, Solutions by STC

 

We warmly congratulate both winners for their remarkable contributions to sustainable project management. Their achievements highlight the growing importance of embedding sustainability into all aspects of project leadership and execution.
