Celebrating the World’s Outstanding Project Leaders: Meet the 2026 Winners

The IPMA Global Individual Awards Team is proud to celebrate this year’s exceptional Project Manager of the Year winners — professionals whose leadership and achievements demonstrate the transformative power of project management.

Projects are where ambition becomes action. Behind every successful transformation, innovation, and major organizational achievement are people who bring together strategy, expertise, resources, and, above all, people. At the heart of this work are project managers — professionals responsible for navigating complexity, creating alignment, and turning challenging objectives into meaningful results.

The Project Manager of the Year award celebrates professionals who exemplify this level of leadership and excellence. It recognizes individuals who demonstrate the ability to lead with purpose, make sound strategic decisions, inspire collaboration, and deliver meaningful and sustainable outcomes in complex environments.

The 2026 edition highlights three project managers whose achievements demonstrate the breadth and impact of the profession:

  • Gold: Umar Sahli (Saudi Arabia), with a project Delivering Saudi Arabia’s National Technical Facilities Intelligence
  • Silver: O’Ryan Africa (South Africa), with a project Lourens River Flood Alleviation
  • Bronze: Adam Bandy (Hungary), with a project QVIK

Their recognition reflects an understanding of project management that goes beyond timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Exceptional project leadership is about bringing people together around a common purpose, responding effectively to uncertainty, making informed decisions, and creating outcomes that matter long after a project is completed.

Through their achievements, this year’s winners represent the increasingly important role project professionals play in shaping organizations, industries, communities, and society. Their work demonstrates how strong project leadership can turn complexity into opportunity and ambitious goals into tangible impact.

IPMA warmly congratulates this year’s winners and all participants of the 2026 IPMA Global Individual Awards. Their commitment to excellence, continuous development, and meaningful impact contributes to a stronger global project management community and to a future where projects are a powerful force for positive change.
