As IPMA celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2025, we are proud to introduce a new chapter in our journey: the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Award. This new recognition highlights the essential role that inclusivity and fairness play in shaping stronger, more innovative, and more sustainable organizations.
True excellence in project management goes beyond processes and outcomes—it embraces people. When diversity is valued, equity is ensured, and inclusion is practiced, organizations unlock creativity, foster resilience, and build communities where every voice matters.
This year, we are honored to recognize the City of Cape Town as the first-ever recipient of the IPMA Global DEI Award.
The award was handed to Rachel Jones, the Senior Project Manager, Project Portfolio Manager at the City of Cape Town, for her outstanding work on the project, “Bridging the Divide: An Immersive Approach to Project Portfolio Management at the City of Cape Town,” which reflects a bold commitment to creating equitable opportunities and nurturing inclusive growth across their community.
By receiving this award, the City of Cape Town sets a precedent for what it means to lead with empathy and vision. Their work stands as an inspiring example for project leaders worldwide, showing how DEI principles can be transformed into measurable impact and long-term progress.
