New recognition in IPMA Global Awards Family – IPMA Global Project Management Academic Excellence Recognition

In the year when IPMA, the oldest professional association for project management, celebrates its 60th anniversary, the IPMA Awards team will introduce several innovations. The first of these is the new award category – the IPMA Global Project Management Academic Excellence Recognition, which includes four subcategories.

The IPMA Global Research Awards aims to recognize and promote global project management academic excellence in advancing the field of project management. Through this annual recognition, IPMA honours recent outstanding academic achievements and impactful contributions that shape and influence the professional project management discipline.

The IPMA recognises global project management academic excellence at the following categories:

• IPMA Distinguished Professor
• IPMA Distinguished Associate Professor
• IPMA Distinguished Assistant Professor
• IPMA Distinguished Lecturer.

All interested applicants should:

• be a member of the project management community that is perceived as someone of integrity, ethics, trust and competence in delivering project results
• have a demonstrated history of advocating and promoting the highest ethical standards in project management, such as the IPMA Code of Ethics
• have supported and advocated for the IPMA values.

The time schedule for 2025 is:

• Submit the Application Report by February 27^th 2025
• Receive notification about the Judges’ decision by February 27^th 2025
• Celebrate at the IPMA Research Awards Gala in Dubai in April 2025.

Application Process:

1. Application 

The application should be submitted with mandatory support of the respective Member Association (MA), following the criteria from application form and schedule. The Application Submission should be compiled using the Awards platform. After registering, choose the chapter IPMA Global Awards, IPMA Global Project Management Academic Excellence Recognition, and then the appropriate subcategory.

2. Evaluation

The awards office will perform a technical check, and only eligible applications will be distributed to the judges who meet the eligibility criteria for IPMA Distinguished Professors.

3. Recognition

The list of distinguished professors and lecturers will be announced, and a certificate and badge will be issued at the 13th IPMA Research Conference, which will be held in Dubai, 9-11 April 2025. Additionally, the list will be published and regularly updated on the IPMA website.

4. Evaluation criteria

Applicants in all categories will be evaluated based on 4 indicators:

• basic qualifications
• academic achievements in the broader field of PPP management
• contributions to the IPMA
• social impact in the broader field of PPP management.
