Get to know the Winners of the PE Awards in Small-/Medium-Sized Projects Awards 2023 in the category of Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure.

Bronze Winner

Project Name: State of the Art End-to-End IT infrastructure for SABIC building
Company: Solutions by STC

Project description: As a part of SABIC’s digital transformation strategic direction for 2022, Solutions by STC has been selected to build an end-toend state-of-the-art IT infrastructure for SABIC’s new building in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. This cutting-edge infrastructure will utilize the latest innovative technologies and connect SABIC’s global sites, incorporating advanced data, environmental, and operational excellence systems. The project will oversee the integration of 321,000 system assets, including safety, management, electricity, information technology, security, and mechanical systems. Additionally, the building has been certified by the Uptime Institute (UTI), a global institution renowned for its expertise in the quality of data centers.

Silver Winner

Project Name: Grampians Peaks Trail

Company: Parks Victoria and Ontoit
Country: Australia

Project description: The Grampians Peaks Trail project is a world-class natural and cultural walking experience showcasing the stunning Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park. The complex project involved constructing a 160km walking trail and building 11 new hike-in campsites in remote and rugged mountainous terrain. Opened in November 2021, the project was delivered with extensive stakeholder consultation and working closely with Traditional Owners to bring visitors closer to the rich and ancient Aboriginal culture of the Jardwadjali and Djab Wurrung peoples.
The $33 million project will generate significant economic benefits for the region and strengthen the social wellbeing of the region and local community.

 

Gold Winner

Project Name: Civil Works for Cape Town Formula E Track Preparation
Country: South Africa
Category: Construction, Engineering, and Infrastructure

Project description: Design and implementation of roads and infrastructure works around the Cape Town Stadium to facilitate the first-ever Cape Town Formula E Race (E-Prix) in February 2023 within a fixed time frame of 16 months from commencement of planning to completion of construction works. Works were completed within the time frame, within the approved budget with the road and track quality to Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) standards. The race was publicly praised as a success and is now the fastest track on the Formula E circuit. The submission covers the project as a whole.
