Announced winners of the IPMA Global Research Award 2024

IPMA is delighted to announce the results of the IPMA Global Research Awards for 2024, the most prestigious competition in research related to project management all around the Globe.
This year witnessed an unprecedented surge in high-quality applications, marking the highest number of submissions in the 19-year history of the IPMA Research Awards. Our distinguished panel of independent IPMA Research judges rigorously evaluated entries from 17 countries, facing the hard task of selecting the finest among applicants.
Guided by stringent criteria encompassing research problems, processes, results, and personnel, our judges meticulously assessed each submission.

The IPMA Global Research Awards Gala will be held during the 12th IPMA Research Conference from 19th-21st of April – in Maryland, USA.

The winners are:

IPMA Global Research Award Winners 2024

In the IPMA Research Award the Winner for 2024 is PhD Natalya Sergeeva from the University College London, United Kingdom, and PhD Johan Ninan, UCL (current TU Delft), with the research titled – “Narratives in megaprojects”.

Graduate Research Award Winner

IPMA Graduate Research Award Winner 2024 is a PhD student from Shandong University, China – Zhixue Liu, with his research titled – Cooperation in an Uncertain Environment: The Impact of Stakeholders’ Concerted Action on Collaborative Innovation Projects Risk Management.

The title of Graduate Research Award Outstanding Contribution 2024 goes to Zhujun Wang – PhD student from the School of Management, Xi’an Jiaotong University, currently serving as a visiting PhD student at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park. Her project is titled “Blockchain and Project Management: Theoretical Exploration of Adoption Barriers and Design of Application Prototype”.

Young Researcher Award Winner

Young Researcher Award 2024 winner is Costanza Mariani PhD from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, with research titled “Empirical Applications of Artificial Intelligence to the Project Management domain “.

IPMA Global Research Achievement Award

IPMA Research Awards judges selected the IPMA Global Research Achievement Awards Winner 2024. This prestigious award was presented to Professor Graham Winch. The Award Judges decided to reward his lifetime achievements, including research, academic and business management.
